Pirates are retards.

Apparently, some people in a friend's class showed up dressed like pirates and did the whole pirate talk thing and the prof. told them to stop. I applaud the professor.

If anyone talks to me like a pirate I'm going to stick a sword through their eye.

I went to the Whole Foods Market on the way back from Sam Ash, and a bunch of employees were dressed like pirates. The guy that served me at the deli counter was yelling something about not liking spam in a pseudo-British falsetto the whole time. I thought it might have been some kind of movie reference, but I'm not very cinematically literate. And there was a bunch of awful pirate talk coming from other people back there. I don't understand. When did Congress declare pirate day? Until it's legislated, forget it.

I'm down with pirate day, as long as I don't have to partake in it. Don't get me wrong - I love pirates. I love pirates more than ninjas. However, if I was a pirate, I would be pretty meiupset at anybody who tried to be one without a proper warrant to do so.

I bought some new Sonata Arctica today. I have not listened to it yet - I'm going to go down to my room, put it in the cd player, crank it up and listen through the whole thing. That's what I do whenever I get a favorite band's album.

I also pimped radnoise's forum today. I'm starting up 55 minute frenzies tomorrow - there's a link in the sidefight section for that.

I'm not a pirate. I'm not going to talk like one. I find it presumptuous and cocky.

What I was laughing at is how presumptuous and cocky Load of Ortz is. I think that's what he was being sarcastic about. :P

I'll have the spam, spam, eggs and spam.

I don't like spam.

There isn't very much spam in it.

Lord of Oats... they confused Pirate day with Monty Python Day...which is quite stupid I must say.

Turning Japanese? That's not something you should be doing in a crowded restaurant! You'll give Raymond the vapours!

 That was my favourite song as a 13-year-old boy - but I had no idea what it meant. I didn't find out until about 20 years later that it actually also referred to my favourite pastime as a 13-year-old boy.

Last year I didn't know it was Pirate day when I walked into my bar after a long day at work. There were pirates everywhere. Didn't think anything of it because, well, Portland's weird like that anyway.

I'm talking to a friend about something completely pointless, when he looks up and shouts "Pirate fight! Pirate fight!" and sure enough, there they are by the pool tables going at it.

We (he mostly, as he had a good foot on me sizewise) break up the fight, send the pirates on their way, and get back to drinking.

Wow, that was a pointless story. Much like the holiday

Heh, I just took it as he was talking about the band the Vapors who wrote Turning Japanese. But I've never heard that term for masturbation. But I guess that could be what he was singing about, because didn't the lyrics say that he has her picture in his cell and wants a million more and he wants the doctor to take her picture so he can see her from the inside? Then he says he's turning up and all around?

And what the heck is a Cyclone Ranger, a tornado maybe?

edit: OK, I had to search the lyrics. Yeah, it sounds like he's strumming his mule, lol.

Gawd, aint that the truth? Seems like half the events you go to 'round here are overrun by pirates or anarchist clowns on tall bikes. Sometimes both.

I believe TLAP actually originated in Oregon, BTW...

...ah yes! I just checked the WHOIS on the original TLAP day site, and it is registered to a resident of Albany, OR, which is about an hour and a half South of Stumptown.

Conclusion: Oregon is weird. That's why I live here.

Yes - apparantly "turning Japanese" means the same as "the vinegar strokes".
